Methods for securing Achilles on the side of the ship
Preparation:
- Place one winch on each side of the working area. Make sure the winches are placed 90ᵒ of the direction of the wire.
- Do a proper sea fastening with chain hoists in a diagonal direction, make sure the winch are unable to move or tilt in any direction. Scaffolding can also be used helping to hold the winch in place. This must be executed by personnel on the vessel.
- Mount the fairleads in between the Wave Breakers and route the wires through the fairleads.
- The LARS system should be placed as near the working area as possible.
- Do a proper sea fastening with chain hoists in diagonal directions. Use scaffolding if possible to make sure LARS is properly locked in place.
